Characterization :
Edmund Hooper. A hard, selfish, terribly cruel child who will do literally anything to keep “Warings” to himself. He terrorizes Kingshaw to such an extent that the latter kills himself in the end. His father thinks that he he has the same coldness as his late wife. He is a flat character.
Charles Kingshaw. A lonely, sensitive boy who feels that there is no place for him at “Warings”. He only feels at home at school and that too is...
