The title is a line from an old nursery rhyme about three geese leaving a flock:
One flew east, one flew west
One flew over the cuckoo’s nest
Cuckoo’s means crazy, cuckoo’s nest is a crazy home, a home for mental disturbed people.


THEME

The main theme is the conflict between the system and the individual. An other theme is friendship.


SETTING

The story takes place in a “cuckoo’s nest”, a mental hospital in the state of Oregon.
